Therapy Fund Foundation

A 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by Ashley McGirt- Adair

WHAT IF ALL BLACK WOMEN, MEN, BOYS, GIRLS, TRANS, AND NON BINARY PEOPLES ENJOYED OPTIMAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING IN A SOCIALLY JUST SOCIETY?

Our mission is to eliminate barriers to Black healing for those who have been historically excluded throughout the diaspora.

We provide free mental health education, advocacy, and therapeutic services for individuals experiencing racial trauma, anxiety, depression, and other emotional or psychological challenges caused by systemic oppression, economic hardship, and unresolved intergenerational trauma.

We do this while also compensating the therapists who serve them an adequate rate, and ensuring community has access to culturally responsive clinicians who practice with an anti-racist lens, while also aiming to support the tuition costs of Black clinicians who will serve this community.

Our Community Statement

We denounce the historic and systemic nature of the continuing racism against people marked as non-white. We know that the responsibility for striving toward racial justice belongs to all of us, and in particular to those of us who have historically been over-represented and racially privileged.

We reaffirm our commitment to fighting racism and supporting equity and inclusion. At Therapy Fund Foundation we have made a commitment to sustained action, because building an anti-racist world does not end when the news dies down. We value everyone and treat people with dignity and respect.

our core Values

Wellness

At the Therapy Fund Foundation, wellness is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in fostering holistic well-being that encompasses mental, emotional, and physical health. Wellness is not just the absence of illness but the presence of balance, self-awareness, and the ability to thrive.

We are committed to creating spaces and opportunities that empower individuals to reclaim their wellness, embrace healing, and build resilience. Through our programs, partnerships, and community efforts, we strive to ensure that everyone has access to the resources and support needed to achieve and sustain their well-being. Wellness is not a destination, it’s a journey we take together.

Respect & Inclusiveness

We embrace diversity and inclusion. At Therapy Fund Foundation, we have a special responsibility to bear witness to injustice and inhumanity. We stand with all those who work and demonstrate for justice, and we join their calls for institutional change.

We also recognize that it is not enough to affirm these principles in the abstract. This moment encapsulates particular harms and traumas to our BIPOC community members.

As an organization, we explicitly affirm our solidarity with Black Indigeonus and all People of Color across the globe.

Integrity

We act with the highest level of accountability, we provide fair, accurate and honest disclosure of information, and we treat all individuals in a fair and responsible manner, inspiring the highest level of trust within our communities.

Communication

At the Therapy Fund Foundation, communication is the cornerstone of our work. We value open, transparent, and inclusive dialogue that builds trust and strengthens relationships. Effective communication is essential to understanding the diverse needs of our community and ensuring that every voice is heard and respected. We are committed to fostering conversations that inspire connection, empower advocacy, and promote healing. Through thoughtful engagement and active listening, we create pathways for collaboration and shared understanding. Communication is not just about exchanging information—it’s about building bridges and amplifying the voices of those we serve.

If we’re going to heal, let it be glorious!

“Until there are systems in place ensuring those in need can receive free therapy and those who provide it are adequately compensated there will always be a place for the therapy fund!”
